The latest from wishing august over

Wishing August Over is a synth-based instrumental project weaving abstract classical textures with cinematic ambience and dreamlike nostalgia. Built on a foundation of atmospheric keyboards, found sounds, and analog-inspired tones, the band explores memory, loss, and the hidden warmth of static through sound.

Their debut album, Instrumentals, Volume 1, drifts between the haunted lullabies of early Boards of Canada and the ghost tones of forgotten home movies—crafted using both digital and analog synths, electric guitar, and fragments of the real world captured and reshaped. The result is music that feels both distant and familiar, like a half-remembered soundtrack to a life you might’ve lived.

The duo behind the sound—01q on synths and Sierra Pva on guitar—work in shadow, letting the music speak for itself. The visual world of Wishing August Over is sepia-toned and sun-warped, echoing the faded photographs that inspired their sonic palette. For them, the past isn’t a place—it’s a feeling. And they’re trying to score it.
